clothing ranked low as a priority.
As
they ve been mainstreamed into schools and
workplaces, personal appearance has become
more important.
But they often have different body types
than non-disabled people, complicating the
task of finding clothes that blend in.

Diane Cole, of the San Francisco area,
{found this out four years ago when she took
her daughter Sarah, now 12, to buy her first
pair of jeans.
Sarah was shorter, stockier and rounder
than most girls at her age, despite improved
nutrition and exercise regimens developed for
people with Down syndrome.
