You can legally pick oranges in Sacramento from specific area trees owned by the city
Do you know about Harvest Sacramento? Sunday February 28, 2010 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm,
Harvest Sacramento, a collaborative project of Soil Born Farms and the Sacramento Food Bank
and Family Services, will be picking fruit, meeting new people, and having fun while contributing to
local food assistance agencies.
Oranges can be made into marinade, marmelade, orange cakes,
sherbet, sauces, or baked with other sweet fruits.
You can make a salad dressing by mixing orange
juice with olive oil.
After the harvest, the group will return to the Community Learning Center to share stories, add up
their harvest totals and enjoy a warming bowl of soup loaded with locally grown veggies.
Children
over seven will be welcome to participate.
But before you register to sign up at their website, be
aware that the event is full-up, but you can sign the waiting list.
