The Forgotten Kingdom
Lijiang was first introduced to the
Western through writings by an AustriaAmerican botanist and explorer – Joseph
Rocks.
Later, another venerable work the
Forgotten Kingdom was produced by
Peter Goulart, who studied Naxi culture
from 1940 to 1949.
It is one of the great
works that made this region well known to
the western travelers.
After China’s opening up in the early
80’s of the last century, some foreigners
