AnsaldoBreda, a Finmeccanica company, has been awarded the USD 300 million tender to supply 136 new metro cars for the Miami Metro, which is managed by Miami Metrorail.
The contract is for the development of six prototypes and 130 series carriages. The components for these new metro vehicles will be produced at AnsaldoBreda’s Italian facilities, and assembled at a new plant the Company will build in Miami-Dade county. The vehicles will be state of the art - all equipped with low-energy consumption LED lighting, CCTV (closed circuit television) security systems, with a Wi-Fi connection for passengers - innovatively designed and fully compliant to the specific Florida and U.S. requirements and standards.
