Institute Leadership Team Supports Healthcare Reform Bill Passage
On March 17, the members of the Institute Leadership Team (ILT) signed NETWORK’s letter urging members
of Congress to support the health care reform bill.
Our ILT signature joined Catholic Healthcare Association
(CHA), the president of the Leadership Conference for Women Religious (LCWR) and other leaders of
congregations in their support of the legislation.
The ILT supported the Senate health care bill because it
promises to expand coverage to more than 30 million uninsured persons while upholding longstanding
conscience protections and not providing taxpayer funding for abortions.
Believing that health care is a human
right, the passage of this legislation brings us closer to ensuring that everyone receives the health care they need
in this country.
This decision represented our careful analysis of the bill and our trust in CHA as experts in
health care.
