Sister and associate partner to provide care and
compassion
It is only because of support from Mercy donors and our lay partners that sisters
across the Northeast are empowered to minister to individuals in need.
Sister of Mercy Eileen Boffa and Mercy Associate Claire May have both
had a lifelong commitment to serving the poor.
It is through this mutual
commitment that they met and have become longtime friends—working
together in Mercy—to serve those in need.
This past year, Sister Eileen
felt a pull to work directly with
persons who are homeless in
Bridgeport, Connecticut, but
she needed to figure out how
she would fund this ministry.
At a gathering for sisters and
associates, Claire and Sister
Eileen, in casual conversation,
discussed the street ministry that
Sister Eileen wanted to start.
