A Sister of Mercy Answers God’s
Call to Serve People in Need
Following Jesus’ example, Sister Patricia McKeon
responds to the needs of some of the most overlooked,
forgotten and vulnerable members of society.
According to Sister Patricia McKeon, it was by chance that she
came to serve people who are homeless.
Previously, she had spent
16 years in education, a ministry which she dearly loved.
But,
during a time of transition when the school in which she worked
was closing, a series of eye-opening events led her to her current
ministry – serving persons who are homeless.
Some would call it
coincidence – others, God’s providence.
Sister Pat’s first life-altering experience with people who are
homeless came when a Sister of Mercy with whom she lived asked
her to help chaperone a youth group on a trip to volunteer at a soup kitchen.
She wasn’t meant to go,
but she agreed to fill in at the last minute.
