LA ROZA ENFLORESE
La Roza Enflorese has been interpreting the monodic Sephardic repertoire since
2000.
Born from the oral traditions, these songs offer quite a wide range of
interpretation possibilities.
Formed with musicians from diverse musical backgrounds (classical, jazz, pop….
), the Ensemble presents these songs as a joint
work of ancient, traditional and nowadays’ music, involving instrumental techniques inspired from both popular music and improvisation as well.
With a view of creating a varied and contrasting musical sound, La Roza Enflorese brings together instruments of different origins and times (fiddle, viol, lute,
vihuela, recorders, crumhorn, percussion instruments from Near-and MiddleEast).
If this instrumental richness contrasts with the Sephardic tradition ( one
female voice singing, accompanied by one drum at the most), it undoubtedly
displays the influences which have made this tradition living since the 1942
diaspora.
