I could not miss it more than I do now,
trapped here, forbidden to live the way I did
before.
Where I lived, on the prairie with all the
other Indians wasn’t an easy form of living.
You
had to fight for your life almost every day, hunt
for food, and watch out for all the dangerous
animals and people on the prairie that the old
ones told you about, but it was absolutely
nothing against what we would have to face
later, well, I was just a little girl but I remember
it all so clear, like it was yesterday.
I let my mind
