Abstract
Kadmos is considered one of the most historical characters of the Greek mythology.
In this article, we will substantiate the identification of Kadmos with the god Indra.
The narration of Kadmos deeds is parallel to the trifunctionnal offenses of Indra.
The identification provides consistent Indo-European etymologies for Kadmos and
Eurôpê, that is not his sister but his lost rûpa shape .
The historical layer that cannot
be explained by mythological themes is residual.

Kadmos is a character of the Greek mythology whose historicity has been little questioned so
far.
The narration of his deeds is assumed to have been historical facts.
Comparative studies
of the Indo-European religion usually do not take him into account as a possible source of
mythological data.
