Violence returns
to Suleimaniya
Suleimaniya anti-government protestors
performed their sixth Friday prayer at the
so-called Saray Azadi (Freedom Square),
showing steadiness in calling on Kurdis-tan Region authorities to conduct reforms
and urgently act in arresting suspects who
caused violence amidst demonstrations
that began February 17.
Protests in Suleimaniya entered the
second month, and protestors promise to
continue until demands were met.
Demonstrators named last Friday the
“Friday of Anger.
” This day also ended
with violence, causing more than 45 inju-ries, mostly among police forces.
