The Folketing
(Folketinget) is the parliament and the Legislature of Denmark.
It is
here where the political
parties has base and
where law proposals
are made and passed.
It is located in Christiansborg Slot and has
a constant of 179 members (mandates), where
four of them are from
the Faroe Islands &
Greenland.
There is
currently eight political
parties in The Folketing,
where The Liberals
(ventre) and The Social
Democrats
(Socialdemokraterne)
are the biggest.
You can be elected as
well as vote at en election to The Folketing if
you have Danish citizenship, live in Denmark and are at least
18 years old.
Every
forth year there is election for a new Folketing,
where the people of
Denmark vote on either
a candidate from that
political party, or on a
political party.
A political
party needs at least 2
percent of all votes in
order to come into The
Folketing.
Each political
party has a person
that they would like as
prime minister.
