Combating Head & Neck Cancer
The John Radcliffe Hospital,Oxford
Heads Upisa Head & Neck Cancer Research Charityset up
in 2004 and is based at The John Radcliffe Hospital in
Oxford.
More than 8,000 people in England and Wales will
develop head and neck cancer this year, and whilst more
than half will survive many will be left with lifelong and
devastating side-effects as a result of major surgery,
radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy.
We fund a Research
Scientist at The University of Oxford whose only remit is to
conduct research into the causes and biology of this spiteful
disease to producemore effective and less invasive treatments.
The UK s largest funder.
Cancer Research UK, has recently
reduced its support for research charities from 35% to 9%
leaving uswith the task of raising a further £250,000 over and
above the £425,000 that has already been raised and
pledged in our five year project.
