The Melbourne Leather Pride
(MLP) Festival has been moved
toApril2011.
MLP festival director Alex
Schoeffel said moving the festival
— originally scheduled for next
month — would ensure the
event was properly resourced
and did not clash with the new
Pride March Fair in Peel St on
December12.
“Itsverysadtohavetomovethe
event again, but we really want to
prove that it is both a world-class
event and that it’s sustainable,”
Schoeffel told Southern Star
Observer.
The festival will now run from
April1–10nextyear.
Schoeffelsaidtheextratimewill
allow the board of management
to incorporate into a tourism and
eventsassociation
to ensure the festival is
representative of the entire
Leather, Kink, Bear and
Fetish communities, as well
as encourage greater female
participation.
