The Islander, March 30, 2010 Page 1 Recreation Committee Moving Forward with Park Planning By Courtney A. S. Pratt The South Hero Selectboard met last Monday, March 22; part of the agenda for the meeting was the discussion about the development of a new park space in South Hero. The new park is intended to be sited on a piece of property just to the south of Montani’s Farm Stand; the general area can be identified by a piece of land recently cleared of trees on the lake side. The site was part of a land swap between the Town and a homeowner on Sunset View Road: Ilmar Vanderer. The intention was to allow access to the lake for the Town and access to a part of Vanderer’s parcel that was previously inaccessible to him. According to the Selectboard, boards have been working on how to utilize this piece of land over the last few decades, and this may be the closest a board has ever come to establishing the area for public use.
