The Vermont Brownie Company will be featured on the Food Network this week in an episode of
Throwdown with Bobby Flay.
The South Hero-based brownie company started as New Years’ Day musings of what might be accomplished in the year to come: 2008.
Owners, Katherine Hayward and Shawna Lidsky, did some
research, made a solid business plan and set to baking.
Neither is a professional chef, or has a recipe
passed down through generations, but brownies seemed like a forgiving medium, and they need not
make any apologies—the brownies are delicious.
Fudge-like and decadent, what feels like a guilty
pleasure is balanced by the assurance of all-natural, premium ingredients that are purchased locally,
when possible.
