Granny’s Attic Cupola Delays Opening
Granny’s Attic, South Hero’s venerable thrift shop, will have a delayed opening this year due
to the discovery that the cupola of the OldWhite Meeting House was in a state of near collapse.
On Monday night, the Select Board voted to hire a contractor to remove the cupola, repair the
roof and reset the historic cupola.
A crane will be needed to wrestle the old cupola off the roof;
for the photographers among us, this operation will certainly provide a terrific photo-op.
As soon as the repairs are complete, the Attic will open for the summer on Fridays from 1 to
4 pm and Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm.
However, donations of useable merchandise are being
accepted now.
