On January 22, the President and TLSS hosted a breakfast forum on the quality of learning and student experience.
The purpose of
this event was to bring together past recipients of Excellence in Teaching Awards and invite them to discuss personal experiences
regarding the quality of learning and the student experience at uOttawa—two extremely important components given that they are
at the core of our educational mission.
This roundtable-style discussion helped us identify improvement strategies for both components.
The event was a huge success, as seen from the results of a brief survey in which more than 80% of respondents were either satisfied
or very satisfied with the discussions, the organization and the preliminary information provided, to name but a few.
Guided by this experience, the
TLSS then organized two more
breakfast forums in late March
and early April, attended by
faculty members to share some
key results of the 2008 National
Survey on Student Engage
