What is your opinion on Russia s current relations with Ukraine?
Practically from the beginning of written history, present-day Russia and Ukraine have been tied to
one another.
First it was during the time of Kievan Rus, when they coexisted as one nation.
After
the Mongol invasion, Russians united into a northern state, while Ukrainians were more or less
absorbed by the Polish.
After a period of time, Cossack units within present-day Ukraine grew
increasingly dissatisfied with Polish domination and sought incorporation into the Russian empire.
