Extreme Travel
Extreme tourism (also known as shock tourism) is a type of niche tourism involving travel to
dangerous places (mountains, jungles, deserts, caves, etc.
) or participation in dangerous events.
Extreme tourism is most popular in countries of the former Soviet Union and in South America.
This
is mostly due to the extreme temperatures and landforms which can be found in those places.
Why
do you think some people want to go on extreme travel vacations? Would you like to experience an
extreme vacation ?
In Donsol, Philippines, extreme tourists have the opportunity to swim with whale sharks.
A whale
shark is the largest living fish species, and can often be found in excess of 12 meters in length.
Although it is very large and has a large mouth, much like whales, it mainly feeds
on microscopic plants in the water.
Tourists in Donsol are not allowed to use scuba gear or
underwater scooters – it s just the tourist, the whale shark, and the deep, blue sea.
