I’m Steph.
I was pretty confident going into this that I had the best.
idea.
ever.
Weeks before the
ethnography was even assigned officially, I mentioned to my friend Jim (a Literature PhD student
who teachers 103) that I had to observe a class, and he immediately proclaimed that I should watch
his class.
Whatever his motivation was, from that point on I just kind of assumed that I would end
up in his classroom.
Jim has focused his 103 class around gender exploration.
The first paper his students have
to write is a gender narrative.
I thought that this provided me with a singularly unique opportunity.
I will go in and watch how his students interact, and look at how gender roles play out in a
classroom that studies gender so closely.
I had a list of terribly pertinent questions to ask.
