The long term health benefits of maintaining a healthy blood pressure are established beyond all doubt.
If you have
high blood pressure (hypertension) then your body is almost certainly putting additional pressure on your heart
which could increase the risk of developing a stroke or heart attack in later life.
Without a blood pressure monitor,
however, you are unlikely to know if your blood pressure is abnormally high – there are simply no prior symptoms.
Low blood pressure (hypotension) is usually much less serious but can be a contributing factor in fainting or
dizziness spells.
