Franciscan University Presents “The Nature and Purpose of Spiritual Direction” With guest, Father Boniface Hicks An Excerpt from Spiritual Direction: A Guide for Sharing the Father’s Love Spiritual Direction: Sharing Our Relationship with God, One-On-One There is an implicit expectation that in the first human relationship between Adam and Eve, the personal relationship with God would be explicitly shared. The Scriptures recount that Adam, not Eve, received the commandments to cultivate the earth, to eat of any of the trees, and never to eat from one of the trees. Implicitly we can presume that those commandments were also binding for Eve and that it was Adam’s responsibility to share the revelations from his one-on-one relationship with God with his wife. It was the first faith sharing. Our one-on-one relationship with God grows when it is shared. One way for this to happen is through faith sharing.
