SUMMARY
Oil gained last week on the back of the failure of
Saudi Arabia to obtain agreement for a ramping
up of OPEC production to calm the markets.
Gas
prices remained firm, in line with the general
strength seen elsewhere in the energy complex.
Electricity prices remain at elevated levels
reflecting high oil and coal prices.
Both sterling
and the euro remain weak against the dollar,
making oil even more expensive.
Carbon prices
declined up to Thursday when, despite a UK
auction of Allowances clearing below the market,
the 2011 EUA contract firmed due to gains in the
energy complex.
