P&ID? It stands for “Process & Instrumentation Drawings”.
It is for the
drafting of process and plant schematics.
As well as all the considerable
features of AutoCAD 2010 (see accompanying review), you get an extra
bundle of tools for schematic creation.
P&ID comes with PIP, ISA, JIS, ISO & DIN schematic symbol libraries all ready
to go.
All symbols are editable blocks and you are free to add own, although
with five different types of nuclear reactor and six crushing machines already
included, even evil geniuses should find their needs are already well catered
for.
Symbols are neatly and logically arranged into tabbed pallets ready to drag
and drop into your drawing.
Schematic lines work intuitively, latching on to
symbols dropped on top of them, staying attached to symbols if you move
them around, and automatically closing the gap if a symbol is deleted.
