HANDLING CHECK FOR NEW RACE PILOTS
Pilots new to air racing are required to demonstrate knowledge of their aircraft’s turning
performance and the relationship between ‘G’, bank angle and stalling speed.
They are
required to fly the aircraft on precise tracking during take off and landing and to be able to fly
left level turns at full power.
A chosen level must be maintained for entry, during and roll out from such turns which must of
course be flown with much lookout and not on instruments.
The aircraft must also be flown
straight and level for two minutes whilst lookout from left tailplane round to right tailplane is
continually maintained.
Pilots are strongly advised to practice before submitting themselves for test.
Pilots are also
advised to make early appointments for a test.
Tests should be completed before the last
check-in time for a race meeting so please come early or even the day before a meeting.
