Advertising revenues are down and papers are cutting staff, circulation and some have actually stopped printing a physical paper and gone to the web only. Christian newspapers are not exempt from this challenge. The Christian newspaperfromthePortland area is down over 23% in ad revenue this past year. The Christian Journal founded in 1998, is down 50% in ad revenue. In fact, the paper you hold in your hands is the smallest paper we have printed in 10 years. We have a dilemma. We don’t have the ad income to keep printing, but the popularity of The Christian Journal is at an all time high. We can’t keep the papers on distribution racks because theyarepickedupsoquickly.
