When Linda Meyer lost her home during Hurricane Katrina, her struggle was
just beginning.
Several months after the hurricane,
Linda and her husband John were able to
obtain a FEMA trailer which they placed
on their wooded property in Slidell, La.
The trailer sat on the very spot where
their updated mobile home stood prior to
the 2005 storm.
“We were nearly finished remodeling
our home.
My husband had a shop on our
property which he used for his automotive customizing business.
We lived a
simple life, an easy life.
John and I didn’t
make a lot of money, but we were
happy,” said Linda.
Then on April 13, 2006, the unthinkable happened.
In a tragic accident, the
propane tank for their FEMA trailer
exploded.
Both John and Linda were
inside the trailer.
