District was dedicated Dec.
11 in front of
a large crowd.
Tamela Gant, homeowner,
was present for the service and served
lunch for the volunteers that had worked
beside her in building her new home.
Gant is a graduate of Southern
University and a mother of two sets of
twins.
Prior to moving into this new
home, Tamela and her children lived in a
small three-bedroom apartment infested
with roaches.
The neighborhood was so
dangerous that Tamela was afraid to let
the kids play outside.
“Habitat has been a blessing in my life
and I have learned a lot during my partnership,” said Tamela, who is deeply
appreciative of all the United Methodist
volunteers that made her new home a
reality.
