Starting on May 31 of this year, four
friends backpacked more than 650 miles
from Sewanee, Tenn.
to Washington,
D.
C.
Their goal was to bring visibility to
an international tragedy—the plight of
the “invisible” children of Uganda,
Africa.
Through their efforts, the four rising
sophomores at Sewanee: The University
of the South helped to raise awareness of
the practice of child abductions and the
forcing of children to serve as soldiers
in the 23 year old war that has devastated
the African country.
