Director of Facilities Management Robert Cash explained that the main construction currently being completed is in conjunction with the city of Shawnee. The city of Shawnee is installing a water line from the north side of MacArthur drive to the south side. “Five or six years ago the city put in a plastic water line down that side of the road, which was the main feeder for the hospital and tied the main feeds from Airport Drive up to University Drive,” Cash said. “The lines that feed most of our campus currently come on to Kickapoo and down to University. And overtime we are going to switch them over. ” Cash said that because the new lines are much larger, have better pressure and

CYAN MAGENTA YELLOW BLACK Chuck Porter News Editor & Kristina Smith Contributing Writer Oklahoma Baptist University will keep current ties with Yellowstone Baptist College while also considering the possibility of overseeing YBC’s administration. In its February 3 meeting, the OBU board of trustees voted unanimously to explore the possibility of a “deepened relationship” with the small Baptist college in Billings, Montana. OBU began its working relationship with YBC in 1993, operating a Ministry Training Institute program (MTI) on the YBC campus. That program is still run by OBU staff and faculty through the Hobbs College. “The school was founded in 1974. It’s a very small college,” said OBU president Dr. David Whitlock. According to Whitlock, the YBC board of trustees voted to ask OBU “to consider a more substantial relationship in which OBU would basically own and operate YBC. ” “There are a number of different models [for a deepened relationship],” said Whitlock. “One would

The OBU Recreation and Wellness Center experienced a hike in attendance numbers during the January term and into the beginning of February. “The RAWC always sees an increase in visits at the first of any term, then after about two weeks, the crowds seem to go down a bit,” Recreation and Wellness Center Director Amy Riggins said. “This is probably due in part to students not having as much homework or as many tests at the first of the semester, but New Year’s resolutions may affect that as well. ” This rise in attendance is a national trend. “Most health clubs and university recreation centers notice this trend,” said Riggins. “The first of school, whether in the fall or the spring, is a time to make a fresh, new start, so naturally students may find their motivation higher. ” “The first of the semester, especially in February, is the

Senator at Large Rayna Dawson sponsored and presented the bill. ““The ISA came to [President] Neal [Ellis], and they asked him about getting money for their New Year’s party,” said Dawson. “Together, they made a budget of everything they wanted to do. Neal asked me if I wanted to sponsor the Bill because I’ve worked a little bit with ISA before. I met with Esther Kang, and went over the budget to make sure I understood what was going into it. ” The bill passed unanimously. Senate Resolution 7 also unanimously passed. SR-7 formed a comm
