And my response is always the same, “Do you think you can?” But in reality, there is more to it and that’s what we are going to be talking about today… Can you do this? First, let’s talk about what “This” is. “This” is anything you are not sure you can do. It doesn’t matter what “this” is because the answer to “can I do this” is going to be the same. 1) Believe: The first thing you have to do is believe that you can do it. If you don’t believe you can do it, your mind won’t allow you to do it. Take a moment, put all fears aside and envision in your mind what your world will look like when you do your “this. ” See yourself doing it, see yourself doing it successfully, and finally know you can do it. I’ve been investing now for over eighteen years, I’ve bought and sold over seven thousand five hundred units and I continue to invest today. Successful investing is not hard, yet as an educator for the last eight years, I’ve noticed patterns. There are the successful real estate investing patterns and then there is the unsuccessful real estate investing patterns. The difference between these pattern are substantial yet the investors in the unsuccessful patterns aren’t aware of what they might be doing wrong. How does one investor start with nothing and in a very short period of time, with the property education, begin buying real estate successfully? Not just looking, no

Al and I met at soccer tryouts. We were both trying to make the under-14 travel team in our town. We had attended different elementary schools because we came from different ends of the town. I was from the North side and went to North Elementary School and Al was from the South side and went to the Center School. We both made the team, along with a lanky Irish kid named Brian. Brian’s family had moved here from Ireland when he was seven, and of course, he was good at soccer! That year we won regional championship, beating a team that was much bigger and stronger than we were. Coach Connors used to make us

Although my father’s family was spread out throughout the United States, with some living in Baltimore, some in Ocean Side, CA and some down in Connecticut, my mother’s family all lived within a couple of miles of each other. She had three sisters and a brother, and each of them had a few kids, which made a total clan of twelve cousins, of which I was one. My uncle was a late in life baby so he was more like a big cousin than an uncle. My mother and each of her sisters only had one girl in the family so that left eight boys, enough for two sports teams to get together on a regular basis and just hang out. Holidays were always a big deal. Since my grandmother,

You have heard it all around you, the news media has blitzed you with information for the last three years. You have heard how the real estate market went upside down, lost huge percentages of value and how many people have lost property after property to foreclosure, in both the single family markets and commercial markets. In the last twelve months, you started to hear about real estate markets that actually started appreciating again. They were few and far between, but if you listened closely, if you put your ear to the track, you started to hear the rumble of a train that is still a bit far off but nonethele

We spend our youth waiting for high school graduation to come, it seems like it took an eternity to get there, and what were we hungrily waiting for? A world of responsibility, deadlines, and decisions. The twelve years it took to get out of high school seemed to go by like a flash as soon as we left the safe confines of those walls. Think about it, all we had to worry about was getting our homework done, passing tests and wondering how to be accepted socially. And then with a blink of an eye, we graduate, we turn 20, then 25, then 30, then 40, 50 and 60+ while the whole time still feeling like we are still in our twenties mentally. I was reminded how fast time goes by when cleaning out my cellar to make room to install

I started last September on a quest to complete a full Ironman in 2013. An Ironman race consists of a 2. 4 mile swim, 115 mile bike ride and then a full marathon run. A half triathlon is half that…. makes sense! Even though it is half that, it is still a lot! A 1. 2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and a 13. 1 mile run. I’ve been training for quite a few months now and have done step up races to get me here. I did a couple of small “sprint” races, 1/4 mile swim, 14 mile bike and 3 mile run and an Olympic, 1. 2 mile swim, 26 mile bike and 6 mile run. Since that time, I started thinking about my own high school days. I wasn’t the greatest student and I didn’t spend a lot of time in school. Not because I was a sickly kid, but, because I liked to hang out with my friends and we didn’t like to hang out at school. . . too many rules! I skipped school a lot. I can’t remember actually going to school on Fridays during my senior year and I planned my schedule so I would have 6th and 7th period (the last two periods of the day) in the study hall, which meant, if you were a senior, you could get early release. In 2005, Jackie Hughes was happily married and mother of three. She had recently just given birth to two twin boys. Her husband was a military man and while he was away defending our freedom and making it safe for us to sleep at night, Jackie spent her days raising the family. And the tragedy struck, her husband gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom… his life. Besides being emotionally paralyzed, she was now faced with the reality of raising three small children and being fiscally responsible for everything it costs to bring those children up and give them what they need to grow to be successful adults. What do I mean by that? Well, if you have fallen off the wagon and somehow failed at a resolution, I’m wondering if you just gave up or did you get back up and have another go at it? That’s what successful people do, they get back up…. over and over again, because successful people know the primary reason they are successful is they try to do things, fail, try to do them again, fail, get more information about what they are trying to do… fail and the pattern keeps repeating itself until they finally… succeed. When I was a kid, my grandmother, Mabel Bowser, owned THE fish market in our small town and the surrounding area. It was called The Old Town Fish Market. On Friday nights, all the Catholics used to line up down the sidewalk to buy fish for their dinner, so that they wouldn’t go to Hell. Being a good Baptist, my grandmother was happy to supply their needs, and make a nice profit for herself and her growing family, of which I am proud to say – I’m one! Those Friday nights were crazy! We all pitched in to help; my twelve cousins, my mom, my three aunts, a few family friends, and Buddy. Mabel had the freshest fish in town.
