Latest Update: Real-life Avatar Developed in Japan by Fisher Capital Management World News Researchers in Japan have introduced a robot that can move in sync with a human wearing its counterpart kit that has sensors and controllers. The human operator can talk, hear, see and feel through the robot, making it a fully functioning avatar. The project was undertaken by the Graduate School of Media and Design of Keio University in Minato, Tokyo. Professor Susumu Tachi who is an expert in virtual reality and engineering said that further development of their technology can create useful robots that will replace humans in doing dangerous work (and in the same breath hopes that they do not inspire any kind of hazardous fraud). Telexistence Surrogate Anthropomorphic Robot (Telesar V) is not made solely to entertain us but rather as a preliminary to other robots that will be made for deployment on dangerous locations. Compared to wheeled robots being used at present, Telesar has more flexib

However, the apology was eclipsed by another ill-thought decision. It was learned that the company is going to split into two different services -- one with the same name that will focus solely on streaming content while the other will be dedicated to mailing DVDs in their old way. Qwikster is what their DVD service will now be called, something that the company wants to be recognized as a commitment to quick service but clearly, the public has ideas. Netflix has already lost half of its market value on July when it revealed the plan to increase charges 60% more. This move to rebra

That?s the warning from Nouriel Roubini, the NYU economics professor known on Wall Street as Doctor Doom ? but hailed as a prophet nonetheless ? for having warned that an economy expanding on giddy optimism, asset bubbles and ponzi-scheme paper was headed for a crash, and doing so at a time when the Washington-Wall Streetmedia consensus insisted that ?the fundamentals of our economy are sound?. If found guilty, one of two things will happen next? The Internet Ending: ?Topiary? ? who is revealed to be a dark, brooding, leather-clad circa 1995 Jonny Lee Miller ? avoids jail by making a side-deal with the CIA to help them take down a rogue hacker who is threatening to sell Pentagon secrets to the Iranians. All goes well until we learn that ?Topiary??s CIA contact is in fact a double agent, working for the North Koreans. Now chased by three governments, ?Topiary? has to recover the Pentagon secrets, take down both rogue agents and prevent world war three. The movie ends with ?Topiary??s record wiped, and our hero ? who it turns out was the only honest man in a world of liars ? sails into the sunset with Olivia Wilde, a lifetime of highly paid corporate consultancy gigs ahead of him. The details of the warning note, revealed last week by Money Marketing, focus on the investment risks and loan charges associated with the schemes. The regulator says the promotional material it has seen ?does not state the exact level of fees or charge. ? It says there is a ?good chance? investors will be left with less than money than they started with. In May, Money Marketing revealed concerns over pension loan schemes which exploit a loophole in regulations to allow people with a pension pot of £20,000 or more to borrow 50 per cent of that value from a separate occupational scheme.

Adam Lucas, who ran Essex brokerage People Loans, claimed the FSA libelled him by publishing a decision notice in which the regulator said Lucas failed to pay £1,349. 41 in fees. The final notice cancelled his permissions to carry on regulated activities, thereby removing his approved persons status. But in what is thought to be the first libel case brought against the FSA the High Court Judge has backed the regulator and thrown out the case. The court ruled Lucas case was an "abuse of the process of the court", and ordered him to pay the as yet undisclosed sum of the FSA s legal costs. Lucas was suing the regulator for loss of earnings and damage to his reputation on the gr

But not everyone gets that The Onion is a spoof, and with Facebook s water-cooler factor, "bad news" can spread fast and upset the masses, especially when it s about a well-known boy wizard by the name of "Harry Potter. " When an Onion posting about the "Final Minutes of Last Harry Potter Movie To Be Split Into Seven Separate Films" hit the social networking site, some took the joke to heart, protesting mightily on Facebook. That s where a new website, "Literally Unbelievable" stepped in to help sort the out the Wizards from the Muggles, so to speak, and bring the truth to the fore. Hudson Hongo, a 24-year-old writer, started the site May 20 specifically to showcase "stories from The Onion as interpreted by Facebook. " The impetus
