FOR LOCALLY GROWN, SHOP LOCALLY OWNED VOLUME 9 NO. 1 FEBRUARY 2010 Managers’ Message Happy belated New Year! What a difference a year makes. At the end of 2008 we reflected on our 30th anniversary and the planned relocation to our current space. Now as we reflect back on 2009 we are truly amazed at the work and effort put forth by our management team, staff, the board, our member/owners and the community at large. While the relocation project was herculean at times, it was really just the first step on our path forward to our next 30 years. We can barely remember anything that happened in the old store but we are happy not to be paying $4000 per month in rent to an out of state landlord as we now build equity in our property and pay interest to Damariscotta Bank and Trust that will be reinvested into our community. As for the day to day in the new store, we have been quite pleased with the initial responses from customers (see survey results below) as well as the financial results

FOR LOCALLY GROWN, SHOP LOCALLY OWNED VOLUME 8 NO. 4 NOVEMBER 2009 Managers’ Message Well, we are settling nicely into the new store and are excited to approach our first holiday season in our new space. We navigated the summer season quite well, all things considered, with a lot of hard work from our staff. We appreciate everyone’s support and feedback in making the new store the best it can be. Please continue to use the suggestion box to give us your comments. We are working hard at improving several areas, most notably the bulk department. Over the next few months our goal is to make sure we have the bulk products our member/owners have requested. The bulk liquid department took the hardest hit in the move, and we are listening to your feedback. Watch for changes in that area. Sales continue to be strong in the new store, averaging an increase of 35% over the same period last year. We also just crossed an important milestone: for a rolling 12 month period, we exceeded the

FOR LOCALLY GROWN, SHOP LOCALLY OWNED VOLUME 8 NO. 3 SEPTEMBER 2009 Managers’ Message Wow. We write this to you from our new space, something that we knew would happen but that we still find hard to believe is real. This past month has been such a truly amazing time for Rising Tide’s staff and membership, as well as for this community at large. This building, a fixture in the Damariscotta landscape since the 1940’s, has been given a new life as a strong (pun intended, of course) community-centered business. The number of people involved in making it happen successfully is dumbfounding. To our amazing and dedicated staff; to those who made an extra $10 equity payment; to those who paid their equity in full (or beyond); to those who made donations, to those who made loans and loan guarantees; to the volunteers who helped pack boxes, unpack boxes, clean the old store, donated their professional services…really, it’s an amazing number of wonderful people! And that doesn’t even include
