Summer Time Calls for Celebration of Agriculture With summer upon us, it’s a great time to reflect on the amazing bounty of agriculture and all that this great region can provide for us as we enjoy summer celebrations, vacations, farmer’s markets, great homemade recipes, barbecues and much more! Many aspects of our lives are entwined with food and its preparation, shopping, selection and the enjoyment of tasting and sampling new and different cuisine. This is all made possible because of the great bounty of agricultural products in our area. Not only is summer a great time to celebrate with family and friends, but it’s also a great time to celebrate the hard work of farmers and ranchers who bring us the safe, fresh and wholesome food we love. The Tulare County Farm Bureau asks you to consider the role local farmers play in our community. If you’re looking for a way to enjoy locally grown products and sample great local cuisine, you’re invited to the upcoming Bounty of the County ev

Amgen Tour of California Porterville Prepares There was much excitement surrounding the announcement that the route of Stage 5 of the recordsetting Amgen Tour of California professional cycling road race would include Porterville. Some of world’s most accomplished cyclists, including American Lance Armstrong, will cycle down Main Street on Thursday, May 20th. One of the only American races listed on the international professional cycling calendar (2. HC ranking), the Amgen Tour of California has also drawn the attention of cycling enthusiasts and spectators, solidifying its position as one of the most anticipated cycling events of the year. For Porterville, this is the first time an event of this stature has come to town, and our community is preparing. The local committee is collaborating with the County’s organizing group to be fully prepared in terms of route logistics, volunteer staffing, emergency services, event promotion, and many other components of the event.
