IMAGINE Presentation of the IMAGINE initiative to the EU Commission – DG Regio February 2nd 2010 Notes by Richard Elelman (City of Figueres) IMAGINE is the result of twenty year s experience working with cities in order to promote a low energy - high quality way of life in the modern city, town and village. So as to achieve true success in the fight against climate change, the European Commission and indeed any international administration must recognise the neccesity to include a series of vital players if we are, as a society, to have a realistic chance of implementing policies by which the creation of renewable energies, the installation of energy efficiency and the reduction of CO2 becomes a reality. The private sector, the academic community and above all the local and regional administrations who are in daily contact with their citizens have a vital role to play in this process.
