Le Canada est un pays formé de 10 provinces, dont le Québec! - Moi, je croyais que le Canada était un refuge! - Pourquoi? - Parce qu’on y parle toutes les langues du monde! - Pourquoi tu dis ça? - En France, on parle en français. Au Maroc, on parle en arabe. Ici, quand j’ai vu les gens parler toutes les langues, j’ai pensé que c’était un refuge. - Et tu penses comme ça depuis quand? - Depuis la garderie. C’est pareil maintenant à l’école. - Parce qu’à la garderie et à l’école, vos camarades parlent plusieurs langues? - Oui. He holds a B. A. in Modern European History and Literature from Harvard University (1974) and a Bachelor of Civil Law (1978) and a Bachelor of Common Law (1979) from McGill University. He worked as an editorial writer at The Gazette in Montreal (1980) before beginning his professional career in 1981 as a labour lawyer at Martineau Walker (now Fasken Martineau). In 1991 Mr. Goldbloom became President and Chief Executive Officer of the Montreal YMCA. From 1994 to 2001 he served as Publisher of The Gazette. Howe Institute study The federal Clarity Act, introduced in the House of Commons last December, is a necessary and logical follow-on from the Supreme Court of Canada’s advisory opinion on the possibility of unilateral secession by Quebec, says a C. D. Howe Institute Commentary released today. But the legislation needs amending, the study says, since it would regardas“unclear”anyfuture referendum question that referred to post-secession economic or political arrangements with Canada and since it fails to specify what “yes” result would constitute a “clear” majority in favor of secession. Telegraph forced to alter Canadian newspaper plan: Hollinger to sell Southam shares to power corporation PATRICK HOSKING THE TELEGRAPH, publisher of the Daily Telegraph, will go ahead with a modified version of its plan to invest in Canadian newspapers, despite a deal announced yesterday by its partner and majority shareholder Hollinger, which disrupts the original proposal, writes Patrick Hosking. An extraordinary meeting scheduled for 30 March has been adjourned while the Telegraph rejigs the deal, in which it plans to invest in a 50 per cent stake in a company holding shares in Canada-based Southam. Hollinger said yesterday it had agreed to sell 12.86 million Southam shares to Power Corporation of Canada, leaving it with 18.7 per cent of Southam. It had planned for the Telegraph to take a half-share of its original 22.5 per cent stake.
