Overview
This module will guide you through the key themes in the major feminist theories. The
module is structured both thematically and chronologically, discussing first the earliest
feminist perspectives and moving through to contemporary feminist approaches.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this module you should be able to do the following:
1. Defend the “partial, imperfect, and unfinished” nature of feminist theory.
2. Discuss the contributions and criticisms of various feminist theories, including
liberal feminism, socialist feminism, radical feminism, anti-racist feminism,
postmodern feminism, and third wave feminisms, including queer theories and
transnationalist feminist approaches.
3. Know the distinctions between second and third-wave feminists.
4. Know the five elements of power as understood by poststruct
