A few of Student Affairs’ highranking staff have mixed reactions
about receiving offers to leave the
university — with compensation —
if they so choose.
Campus Recreation director
Doug Kuykendall, a 37-year university employee, and Mardie Sorensen,
Student Affairs assistant vice president and a 28-year employee, have
confirmed that they are eligible for
the staff buyout.
The buyout, or
Voluntary Separation Incentive Program, offers a one-time payment
of $20,000 or 50 percent of a staff
member’s salary to leave their job.
The buyout is an attempt to comply with the 5 percent budget cut
required of all state agencies.
Those
eligible include staff who have 20
years worth of state service or whose
age and years of working for the
state add up to 80.
