Many skin care products, cosmetics and other body and personal care products
contain chemicals that are harmful to the human body. These chemicals cause dry
skin, eczema and other skin conditions. As these lotions are applied to your skin
they are absorbed into your body and can possibly cause damage to your internal
organs.
Fragrances are the worst offenders in the skin care industry. One of the major
problems is the ingredient known as toluene, a pleasant-smelling substance made
from petroleum or coal tar. Although there haven?t been enough studies done on
humans to determine whether or not toluene causes cancer, it is well known to
damage the central nervous system and can also cause anemia, lowered blood cell
count, and damage to the liver and kidneys. Furthermore, pregnant woman exposed to
toluene have been known to give birth to deformed babies.
Synthetic fragrances commonly are composed of Aromatic hydrocarbons. These
