ABSTRACT
Jatropha curcas is one of promising raw materials for
biodiesel in the world particularly in Aceh, Indonesia.
In
this study, Jatropha curcas oil was extracted from fruits
to produce methyl ester via the trans-esterification of
Jatropha curcas oil by using KOH catalyst.
The
performance of KOH catalyst was verified by conducting
the kinetics experiments at the atmospheric pressure with
molar ratio of 1:12, 1:14 and 1:16 of the oil to methanol,
the reaction temperature in the range of 30-60o
C, and
with the catalyst in the range of 0.
