Introduction
Estimated 2.
3 million people are living with HIV/AIDS* (PLHAS) in India.
HIV infected has 8 times higher risk of TB
than a person without HIV infection** approximately.
Diagnosis and treatment of HIV- TB co-infected remain
challenging in community setting.
HLFPPT- PACT program is providing treatment, care and support to 35052
PLHAs through 26 Community Care Centers (CCCs) across 3 states of MP, UP & Rajasthan.
All the CCCs have
established linkages for diagnostic and treatment facilities of HIV-AIDS and TB.
Objective
Aim was to build coordination between ICTCs, ART centers, RNTCP – DMC, DOT centers at Govt.
Medical facilities
with CCCs at community level, establish system of screening PLHAs for symptoms of TB, referral for
investigation and ensure access to TB care.
