It is more than a year since the new coalition
government announced that the proposals for
the new primary curriculum from the last Labour
government were being scrapped.
The Cambridge
Primary Review (CPR) seemed to have hit the
right moment for its publication in providing an
alternative vision of the curriculum built around
strong educational principles.
The CPR team
certainly had a number of meetings with the
DfE and although there was common ground in
the significance of subjects in the curriculum,
there is little reason currently to believe that the
CPR proposals will be strongly reflected in a new
curriculum framework.
