REPORT OF THE SECRETARY-GENERAL CONCERNING THE
SITUATION IN ABKHAZIA, GEORGIA
Addendum
1.
In my report of 28 October 1997 to the Security Council, I indicated in
paragraph 34 that the financial implications of measures to enhance preparedness
for medical emergencies and improve the safety of UNOMIG personnel in the
mission area would be provided for the information of the Council in an addendum
to that document.
2.
The estimated costs for the ambulance and 15 ballistic-protective-vehicles
would amount to approximately $1.
7 million and the helicopter for medical
evacuations will be provided through a reconfiguration of resources already
provided for air support in the Mission.
I will report to the General Assembly
on the additional requirements needed for the purchase of the vehicles.
