Brown outduels Epperson at TGA State Public Links
RLINGTON—The Texas Golf Association’s State Public Links Championship is a battle
of endurance, a battle of heat and a battle of survival.
At the 2010 championship at Tierra Verde Golf Club, the battle began with an 18-hole
stroke play qualifier in which 77 players in the field competed for one of 32 spots in the match-play
portion of the event.
It finished four days later when Chris Brown of Garland defeated Joe Epperson of Plano, 3 and
1, to win the state title for amateur golfers who are not members of private country clubs.
The battle started four days earlier, when Brown and The Woodlands’ Andrew Workman
earned medalist honors with a 4-under par 68 on the scenic, parkland style course that winds
through environmentally sensitive areas.
