Buddy Cook takes helm of Texas Golf Hall of Fame Board
ongtime pro and former PGA of America president Joe Black has worked diligently for the
past several years to establish a permanent home for the Texas Golf Hall of Fame at San
Antonio’s historical Brackenridge Park Golf Course.
That objective achieved, Black has stepped down as chairman and turned the reigns over to San
Antonio golf icon Buddy Cook.
“The game, especially in San Antonio, has been so great to me and has been such a large part of
my life,” said Cook, who along with Black was part of the Founding Board of Directors for the reconstituted TGHOF, “and it will be a privilege to serve in this new capacity.
I’ve already had a number of
calls from people hoping to donate items to the Hall, and we met recently with an architect as we
move forward with plans to begin construction on the Hall’s new home by the end of this year.
