Women’s Senior Amateur who could
match Stafford’s Lecia Alexander
over 18 holes, but none who could back it up
like she did.
What separates Alexander from
her peers is her ability to avoid the blowup
round.
That, more than anything, is how she
defended her title at the Golf Club at Cinco
Ranch in late March.
Alexander shot rounds of 75, 77 and 78
and won by 10 shots over Cindy Gilkeson.
Maggie Harmon came in third, six shots
back of Gilkeson.
Alexander came into the
tournament not sure of how she would play.
“I haven’t been playing very well,”
Alexander said.
“I didn’t play at all in
December and January, thanks to the weather
and winter conditions.
”
One advantage Alexander has is competitive experience.
She won this tournament
