For students trying to
stay healthy, a crowded
workout facility can be a
nightmare.
The OBU Recreation
and Wellness Center experienced a hike in attendance numbers during the
January term and into the
beginning of February.
“The RAWC always
sees an increase in visits at
the first of any term, then
after about two weeks, the
crowds seem to go down a
bit,” Recreation and Wellness Center Director Amy
Riggins said.
“This is
probably due in part to students not having as much
homework or as many tests
at the first of the semester,
but New Year’s resolutions
may affect that as well.
”
This rise in attendance
is a national trend.
“Most
health clubs and university recreation centers notice this trend,” said Riggins.
“The first of school,
whether in the fall or the
spring, is a time to make
a fresh, new start, so naturally students may find
their motivation higher.
