Trends of international volunteering in Latin America and the Caribbean

Objectives
The primary objectives of this discussion paper are:
1. Propose a typology of international volunteering patterns in the region: what are the
predominant types of international volunteering (IV) in the region? Are there
specificities in certain sub-regions? Where does North-South volunteering stand
compared to regional volunteering dynamics?
2. Identify innovative trends of IV in the region, compared to predominant trends of IV in
other regions, as well as the main stakeholders. What is the role of International Non
Governmental Organisations (INGOs)? Of grassroots organisations? Of private
firms? Of states? What innovative cross-sector collaborat
