But of course, there are many valid reasons to have one but did you know that divorce has one too many bad effects on kids. Well, a recent survey showed that kids who have divorced parents, especially those with ongoing divorce proceedings, are very likely to suffer from low self-esteem, low math scores and a lot of other setbacks. A study from the University of Wisconsin-Madison shows that children of divorce are most likely to suffer from long-term setbacks in their interpersonal, social and math skills. The study was spearheaded by Hyun Sik Kim who suggested that "Children of divorce also show enhanced risk of internalizing problem behaviours characterized by anxiety, loneliness, low self-esteem and sadness.
